We can love people unconditionally without allowing them to hurt us. We don’t have to be around people to love them. Sometimes being around certain people that we may love can become unhealthy for us and them. It is okay to create distance between yourself and anyone who might be harming you mentally, emotionally, physically or otherwise. This doesn’t mean that you don’t love them, but that you love yourself enough to do what’s best for you and your own well-being. Unconditional love is not a license to accept abuse. Sometimes the only way to love someone is to give them the space they require to love themselves.
